Electrochemical Double Layer Capacitors (EDLC), also known as ultra or supercapacitors, are capacitors with relatively high energy density. Ultracapacitors store the energy inside the space between electrode and electrolyte, but normal capacitors store the energy in a electrical field positive and negative plates. Their very thin dielectric material and large surface (>2000m2/g) of carbon based punched structure shorten the distance between electrodes. They reach to high capacity levels by means of these 2 features.
