Electrochemical Double Layer Capacitors (EDLC), also known as ultra or supercapacitors, are capacitors with relatively high energy density. Ultracapacitors store the energy inside the space between electrode and electrolyte, but normal capacitors store the energy in a electrical field positive and negative plates. Their very thin dielectric material and large surface (>2000m2/g) of carbon based punched structure shorten the distance between electrodes. They reach to high capacity levels by means of these 2 features.

Ultracapacitors are used in various industrial applications, which require a range from milli to kilo ampere current or watt power, by means of their capabilities of connecting serial or parallel.

Application fields of Ultracapacitors;

» Applications in Automotive Industry (regenerative braking, hybrid electrical driving, electrical automatic door, electromagnetic valve control)
» Transportation (diesel motor systems, regenerative braking, hybrid electrical driving)
» Wind energy solutions (Pitch control, regulation of voltage)
» Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS)
» Consumer products (digital cameras, laptops, GPS, mobile devices, toys, torch, solar power storage, lighting systems)
» Renewable energy and intelligent network applications
» Forklifts and cranes
» Telecommunications
